Inlandsbanan (The Inland Railway) runs through Jämtland Härjedalen. Today there is summer traffic along the southern part of Mora-Östersund and the northern part of Östersund-Gällivare daily as well as short-range traffic during wintertime for ski tours and commuters. During the summer, visitors can travel along the track on a rail pass or buy tickets for single stretches. A guide makes the ride enjoyable along with the views of the Swedish Inland with vast forests and waters. There are also package holidays with different themes.
The railway line originally operated from Kristinehamn via Mora, Östersund, Storuman and Arvidsjaur to Gällivare and was completed in 1937.
